Doctor Diagnosis Consultation on the Phone Atlanta GA

If you’re in college, congratulations! The common question everyone asks you if you’re a college student is: “What’s your major?” Unless you’re undecided, it’s an easy answer. Have you chosen a minor as well? Perhaps a minor has chosen you during your college career.

For many college students, they often experientially learn about something called ringworm. Ringworm in your dorms does not indicate that there are small worms crawling around, but it does indicate that there is a fungus causing ringworm to spread.

According to the American Academy of Dermatology you have a higher risk of getting ringworm if you:

  1. Spend time in hot, humid weather
  2. Sweat heavily
  3. Play a contact sport
  4. Have contact with an infected pet
  5. Live in close contact with others, such as in military housing or college dorm rooms
  6. Share personal items, such as towels, clothes, razors and other things without disinfecting or washing them
  7. Wear clothing that chafes your skin
  8. Use a locker room or pool without washing and drying your feet before putting on your socks and shoes
  9. Are obese
  10. Have diabetes

Ringworm is highly contagious and spreads most often through direct skin-to-skin contact with an infected person or animal. If you live in a college dorm room, stick to your major and prevent an unwanted major in ringworm by wearing protective shoes while using shared showers, keep your hands clean and wear clothing that helps you stay cool and dry.

If you have ringworm, contact our Atlanta Ringworm Treatment Experts at Medical Dermatology Specialists. Dr. Weisman is dedicated to giving you long-term solutions by effectively treating the source of your skin problems, including ringworm.

Our Patient Reviews

Dr. Weisman was very professional, friendly, and engaged in conversation with terminology I would understand. Her beside manner was, quite frankly, surprising! It was one of the most comfortable visits I've ever experienced with a doctor.

I truly cannot express how thankful I am for this practice. I have been treated with kindness and immense care by every staff member I have encountered here. The nurses and assistants are beyond attentive and genuinely care for the patient. I have just received a treatment plan from Dr. Laura Biehl, and even if this particular treatment plan doesn't provide me relief, I am confident that Dr. Biehl will work to figure out a solution. She is extremely knowledgeable, listens to patient concerns, and takes time to answer patient questions. Dr. Biehl, and this practice are true gems. If you have any dermatological issues this practice is absolutely the best of the best.
