Help for Scars

Skin grows over a wound to form a scar. You can also get scars from surgery or infections such as chickenpox or acne. Skin that is scarred typically has a greater thickness. Scars also create skin that is pinker, redder and shinier, and has more wrinkles. As time goes by, the scar becomes smoother and softer. Treatment Options

There are a variety of treatment options for scarring. Over-the-counter creams have become popular in the last several years. These usually need to be applied in the first six months after scars occur. Your dermatologist can prescribe bleaching cream, which in the same case needs to be applied within the first six months.

Supplements

Vitamin E and Aloe Vera supplements can help with scarring by adding extra hydration; both are also natural salves to be applied topically. Your local dermatologist is a great resource for helping with acne scarring or other scarring that can be from burns or injury. You do not have to live with the embarrassing effects of scarring.
