Side Profile of Male Patient with Eczema Atlanta GA

Certain skin irritants are more seasonal. Summer skin irritants are related to the climate, plants, shrubs, and other items as well. If you’re noticing a new rash or skin irritant that showed up on your skin, it could be due to a variety of conditions. The Mayo Clinic lists summer skin irritants.

Poison Ivy

Poison ivy is a typical summer skin irritant. It grows as a vine or low shrub and it is common in most climates. If you touch the plant, it can result in red, swollen skin, liquid-filled blisters, and severe itching.

Wild Parsnip

Wild parsnip flourishes in sunny areas. If you touch the sap and it’s combined with sunlight, it can result in a burn-like skin reaction. It may develop into painful blisters and cause skin discoloration for months or years.

Heat Rash

Heat rash is also known as prickly heat. It develops if you have blocked sweat ducts. Your sweat gets trapped under your skin and creates either red or clear fluid-filled bumps on your skin. This condition goes away quickly as soon as your skin is cooled off.

Polymorphous Light Eruption

Polymorphous light eruption develops if you are sensitive to sunlight. It may result in an itchy, red rash in areas of your skin that were exposed to the sun. It usually resolves itself within a few days.

Our Patient Reviews

Dr. Weisman was very professional, friendly, and engaged in conversation with terminology I would understand. Her beside manner was, quite frankly, surprising! It was one of the most comfortable visits I've ever experienced with a doctor.

I truly cannot express how thankful I am for this practice. I have been treated with kindness and immense care by every staff member I have encountered here. The nurses and assistants are beyond attentive and genuinely care for the patient. I have just received a treatment plan from Dr. Laura Biehl, and even if this particular treatment plan doesn't provide me relief, I am confident that Dr. Biehl will work to figure out a solution. She is extremely knowledgeable, listens to patient concerns, and takes time to answer patient questions. Dr. Biehl, and this practice are true gems. If you have any dermatological issues this practice is absolutely the best of the best.
